Work in Skateboarding was originally funded by the international skateboarding community through a fundraising campaign and was established by Samantha Chami, who also edited and managed the platform.
The purpose for this website was to highlight the variety of careers within the Skateboarding industry, to make advice from industry professionals accessible for anyone who was passionate about skateboarding and interested in working in the industry.
Based in the US, where university fees are extortionate, this website contained videos and editorial interviews that were a tool for people to see that they didn’t necessarily have to get a degree to work in an industry that they love.
The website grew to include international voices and brands, showcasing how ingenuity and creativity are an innate talent that skaters all over the world have.
Once it was up the platform offered internships for skateboarders who wanted to gain experience in journalism and graphic design, some interns went on to work in their respective careers in the industry.
This archive has been created because these videos still contain relevant information and perspectives on the industry, some people featured in this archive may have moved on, some are still working in their dream jobs.
